Cordless drills and drivers
A drill is the first power tool most homes need: hanging pictures, fitting shelves, mounting a drying rack, fixing hinges. For light jobs a 12V cordless drill with a screwdriver mode is enough; if you drill brick or concrete often, pick a hammer drill with an 18–21V battery. Check three things before you buy: torque, a 10 or 13 mm chuck, and whether the battery fits other tools from the same brand. Buy separate bits for masonry, wood and metal rather than forcing one bit through everything. Always wear safety glasses when drilling overhead.
